2016 Best of the Best

Congratulations to Sarah Young, Designer at Sunderland Brothers Company in Urbandale, Iowa—Best of the Best competition finalist.

Facelift—that’s the word that best describes the motivation behind the master bathroom renovation of this 1990s home. When Sarah Young, designer at Sunderland Brothers Company in Urbandale, Iowa, was introduced to this project, the large bathroom was old and outdated. According to Sarah, “It was very basic and nothing extravagant. In its day, it was very cool to have a large bathroom with a tub and a shower.” In contrast to the out-of-date oak vanity and plain countertops that the room used to have, the master bathroom now reflects a simple but calm spa-like atmosphere—exactly matching the homeowner’s taste for hues in the neutral color palette.

The tones of the Salzburg Taupe illuminate vibrantly with the support of the master bathroom’s natural lighting. The wall’s deco which includes Jeffrey Court’s Prauge Pattern Mosaic is a centerpiece that radiates brilliantly.

Highlighted in the installation are various selections from Jeffrey Court’s Chapter 18—Mozart’s Mosaics.

The stunning master bathroom frequently receives praise with some suggesting its resemblance to a high-end luxury bathroom while others observe its calm and peaceful atmosphere. Sarah reflected on the renovation by concluding that, "The customers ran with the project once they saw the Salzburg Taupe tone. All they really wanted was a bathroom facelift. What they ended up with was a spa-like master bathroom that they’ll enjoy for a long time."
